About Us

Limitless Neuro Rehab was founded with the aim to bring neurological physiotherapy to the community. Our primary focus is our flagship Parkinson’s rehabilitation programme, created to provide in-depth education and physiotherapy-led exercise to the Waikato.

Since the early 2000s, evidence has shown that the GOLD standard in Parkinson's rehabilitation is a combination of medication and exercise. There is an ever-growing body of research suggesting that exercise is not just good for cardiovascular fitness, but it can help to rewire the brain and create changes that are neuro-protective. This means that our brains use these specific exercises to defend against the progression of neurodegenerative conditions such as Parkinson's Disease.

By performing exercises that generate a neuro-protective response, our brains adapt and form new connections in a process called neuroplasticity. Our aim is to slow the progression of Parkinson's Disease by encouraging our members to engage in exercise that is challenging, purposeful, and most of all, fun!

Grace Mayer

Lead Instructor and Physiotherapist

Grace became interested in neurological physiotherapy after her father was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. He noticed a lack of physiotherapy-led Parkinson’s rehabilitation in the Waikato and encouraged Grace to get involved. After graduating from AUT in 2019 and working in Auckland for a couple of years, Grace moved back home to Hamilton and Limitless Neuro Rehab was created. She has been working alongside the Waikato Parkinson’s community and the fantastic team at Rototuna Physiotherapy since 2021.

Our results so far....

We aim to have all of our members completing an outcome measure assessment every 6 months so we can track any changes or improvements in gait, balance, lower limb strength and lifestyle. In 2022, on average our members improved their lower limb strength by 8.3%, their gait speed by 2.7%, their gait speed with a cognitive dual-task by 6.4% and their gait speed with a physical dual-task by 10.7%. In a condition that is considered neuro-degenerative, we think these results are pretty awesome!
